Preparing your house for photography

To make sure your photos turn out amazing, we’ve created this quick and easy guide to get your space photo-ready. A little prep goes a long way to make your home shine online!

🏠 Whole House Prep

Clean thoroughly: vacuum carpets, mop floors, wipe down counters, clean windows.
Turn on all lights (ceiling lights and lamps).
Replace burned-out bulbs — use the same color temperature (all warm or all cool).
Turn off TVs and computer screens.
Open blinds and curtains to let in natural light.
Remove personal photos if you want to maintain privacy.
Make all beds.
Tuck away shoes and jackets in closets.
Use garages and hallways for temporary storage — we typically don’t photograph these areas.

🏡 Outside the Home

Close garage doors.
Move cars away from the driveway and front curb.
Mow the lawn, trim shrubs, and clear away leaves.
Sweep away cobwebs around doors and eaves.
Put away hoses, toys, and sports gear.
Remove empty planters.

🍽️ Kitchen

Clear countertops completely — remove knife blocks, mail, and clutter.
Leave out no more than 2 small appliances (e.g., coffee maker).
Clear fridge of magnets, notes, and photos.
Hide trash bins in a pantry or cabinet.
Remove dishes from sink and hide cleaning products.

🍷 Dining Room

Clear and dust the table.
Add a simple centerpiece (flowers or décor).
Align chairs evenly.
Remove highchairs

🛋️ Living & Family Rooms

Tidy up: remove magazines, mail, and clutter.
Clear the mantel and fireplace area.
Fluff pillows and fold throw blankets neatly.
Store away children’s toys.

🛏️ Main Bedroom

Make the bed — decorative pillows are a bonus!
Turn on bedside lamps.
Clear nightstands (a small book or vase is fine).
Hide phone chargers and cables.
Declutter dresser tops.
Check under the bed and remove anything visible.

🧸 Kids’ & Guest Bedrooms

Remove names, posters, and wall stickers.
Hide diaper pails, tissue boxes, and rubbish bins.
Clean under beds and remove any visible clutter.

🚿 Bathrooms

Clear all counters: no toothbrushes, medications, or deodorant.
Close closet and shower doors.
Remove all shampoo bottles, soaps, and loofahs from showers.
Use clean, new towels only.
Remove floor mats and dirty laundry.

🐾 Pets

Hide food/water bowls, beds, and toys in closets or pantries.
Remove pet hair from furniture.
Keep pets out of sight — in a crate or outside.
Clean up backyard pet waste.

We kindly ask that all cleaning and staging be completed before the scheduled photo shoot. This ensures we can stay on time and provide the best possible service.

Please note: we do not provide cleaning or staging services. That includes:

Moving or rearranging furniture
Making beds, cleaning, or organizing
Picking up toys or yard items
Retouching photos to remove cars, wires, or personal items
Handling personal toiletries or bathroom items
